Twin Skin Roller Shutters or Double Skin Lathes are designed for use within larger, commercial and industrial premises. Their function is to maintain a comfortable and cost effective environment by ensuring that the amount of heat leaving the building is minimised. Twin Skin Roller Shutters also provide an effective barrier against noise, fire, smoke and heat radiation.

Westwood Security Shutters Ltd. have designed and are manufacturing a twin skin insulated, fire resistant roller shutter. Our Twin Skin shutters utilise a rock wool infill that which can withstand heat up to 1200 °C.

We believe that thermal insulation, will help to reduce your heating bills, a key factor when considering insulated roller shutters. The lower the figure of the U-value of the equipment, the more effective the insulation. Westwood twin skin insulated roller shutters have a U-value of just 1.4 w/m2.

The rock wool is sandwiched between 0.9mm twin skins x 100mm deep galvanised steel lath and enclosed with steel end locks. And our twin skin roller shutters are tested and certified to provide up to four hours fire protection at Exova testing Warrington BSEN 1634-1.

The twin skin is thicker than a standard single roller shutter skin and reduces radiation (heat transfer) accordingly. Another benefit is the great sound insulation provided by twin Skin shutters offering aprox 18 db rating.

A twin skin insulated roller shutter is an obvious choice where there is a increased chance of fire. Westwood Security’s twin skin insulated roller shutter door offers a substantial safety barrier between the source of the fire and any precious or flammable stock.
